coffee trough

After grinding up the Gold Coast Starbucks and listening to the coffee pot "beep" to tell me that my piping hot cup o' Joe is ready to go, I reach in to the cabinet for a coffee cup.

Now almost all of our coffee mugs are ginormous mugs that actually hold two "normal" cups and are probably more accurately described as bowls with tiny handles on them. They are the kind of mugs that consume you before you have a chance consume their contents.  A coffee trough as it were.

In our cabinet of coffee bowls with handles are two special ones. One happens to belong to Lara and the other to me. They are completely different yet they hold similar meaning.

Each coffee bowl (trough) was given as a gift to each of us by dear friends in the Lord. In fact, the coffee bowls (trough) were given with the intent that we would think of and pray for the person who gave them to us, because they have their own coffee bowls matching ours.

Pretty cool how powerful and significant symbolism can be and how it can remind us and motivate us to take time for something (like prayer) that moments ago was not on our agenda for the next 5 minutes.

It’s amazing how much tastier the Starbucks is when I’m spending time with God. I do believe I’ll have another bowlful…
