surrender

Sometimes we're painted into a corner and we have to give up.  Other times we see the hoplessness of a situation and we give in.  Then there are the times when we recognize that our way may not be the best way.  And then there are those times when we're just tired of running; tired of fighting.

I relationship with God is a lot like that.  He patiently waits for us to choose to recognize the hoplessness of trying to do life on our own.  He waits for us to concede that doing life "my" way may sound great when Frankie sings it, but is ultimately hollow and unfullfilling.

Surrender.

It's what we do when we take our hands off the wheel and crawl into to the back seat.

God doesn't force us to surrender to Him.  But He desires a relationship with us so much that He gave us the breath of life, the opportunity for eternal life in heaven with Him, and the means to embrace it ~ the blood of Jesus.

Many see life as a game.  A game that is full of strategic choices that all impact the next choice.  The irony is, who's game are we playing?  God's game or ours?

Surrender.  Check-mate.  It's all about Him.  It's not about me.

Tonight we will experience a Night of Celebration at ACC.  A time to reflect upon all that God has done, is doing and will do at ACC.  It will be a night of worship.  A night of surrender.  We're playing His game ~ as He directs our next move.

Dan, it has been a long time since we have talked. We should get together and have a cookout.
Life is so much better when we surrender to God's will in our lives. I have experienced it over and over again. I try to do something I think is the right thing or do it the easier way and then I find out that I just need to surrender to God's will (after my efforts tank) and things will really happen. God's will in our lives isn't always the easiest thing to do but it is the best. Thanks for another blog I like to read! It is good to hear from you. God bless you and your family.
