questions

There’s a handful of people that I wouldn’t mind meeting.  In fact, it would be cool to go into any part of history and actually ask a question to some people.

Lara & I took our three daughters to Disneyworld two years ago.  And they couldn’t wait to meet the Disney “princesses”.  We waited in line for hours in the mild July heat, sweating and whining.  And then we say them.  Snow White.  Cinderella.  Sleeping Beauty (Aurora).  Wow.  Fiona, Flannery & Cambria were speechless.  They were in the presence of “them”.  Their heroes from their prized Disney dvd collection.  And then someone yelled “TIME’S UP” and we were ushered out the back door and into the hot July sun.  We waited forever in line to have three minutes with the princesses.

Wouldn’t it be cool to have five minutes with God; to actually be in the throne room and have the chance to ask one question?  What if we had the chance to have a back stage pass and ask the Creator of the Universe one question.  What would it be?  What would we ask?

We’re going to begin exploring this idea with our new 5-part  message series starting this Sunday.  He’s way cooler than the Disney Princesses or politicians, movie starts and rock stars.  God invites us to pursue Him, to ask some questions.  And when we do ask those questions, I think that He shows up and solidifies our faith.  We actually become stronger in our faith becuase we've allowed ourselves to go to the mat with God and wrestle and struggle with Him.  To find ourselves in a sort of "free fall" when we come to grips with the idea that God says it's ok to ask questions, as long as we're ok not having all of the answers ...
