growing

Growing is what we do from the moment we are conceived.  In our childhood it’s our goal to be “bigger” and “grown up”.  We can’t wait.

I remember the way I measured how much I had grown when I was in late elementary school.  It was all about how much of the door frame I could whack with my hand when I jumped straight up.  Then it was how much of my hand I could get to touch the ceiling.

Looking back, I’m not sure if this was a terribly accurate measuring system.  Considering I’m not much taller now than when I was in 4th grade, I was probably more accurately measuring how good I was getting at jumping…

At ACC, I am so encouraged about how God has worked in the lives of the people here.  I am more encouraged about how God WILL work in the lives of the people who have yet to walk through the doors of our building.

Our community of believers is growing.  Based on the lives I’ve witnessed over the last 13 months and the conversations I’ve had with tons of people, it is primarily Spiritual Growth that is the crux of what’s going on.  People are getting it.  People are getting the idea that what we’re all about is helping people find their way back to God.  People are getting that it’s not about a building; a charismatic stage personality; awesome coffee and hot music.  It’s about God and our need for Him; our need to connect to Him and other people.

As a result of people getting it.  We’re seeing record attendance.  Weekly.

And that’s a good thing.  It’s a good thing because that means there are MORE people connecting to God; more lives transformed.

As a result of more people connecting to God; we’re running out of space at our current facility.  Fast.

We’re excited about a special information session we’re having this coming Sunday to share what we believe God is leading us to next.

How do we measure growth?  It’s simple.  Transformed lives.  Everything else we do is the result of that core idea.  Connecting to God and connecting to people.

I think I’m going to go smack the top of the door frame in my office right now …
