typical thompson take-off

| Most people have a planned time when they intend to leave on a trip. It's that ideal time (like 6:30 a.m.) when you are certain, that somehow, some way, my family of five will be out the door and in the van and on the road. Yet it never happens that way. Never. Ever. We have come to grudgingly accept the sad fact that leaving on time (within 23 minutes) for a family trip, just doesn't happen. We have affectionately labeled this dubious phenomenon a TTT. (A Typical Thompson Take-off) When we woke up this morning, we had planned on leaving at 9:00 a.m. CST to make the 10 hour New Year's Day drive back to Maryland from Crown Point, IN. Yet the 8 inches of snow that fell over night and the unmeasured number of additional inches that are still coming down, not to mention the forecast of snow along the entire travel route, has forced a new record TTT. A 48 hour TTT. It looks like we'll be hanging out in Indiana for a few more days until the weather is more encouraging and the roads are safer for this family of five along with my sister who will be spending some time in Maryland for a few months to drive 10 hours in the packed out Dodge Grand Caravan. I had plans today. Shovel the driveway. Pack the penguins in the van. Say good-bye to the extended family. Gas the car up. Run through Mickey Dee's. Stop by Starbucks and get my venti coffee (with room for cream) while Lara enjoys her pumpkin spice latte. Put on the new prescription sun glasses. Load up the cd player. Hit the road for 10 hours. Instead, we didn't pass the first two. Another TTT. | |

Thats what you get for making fun of the ravens against colts. (imagine a tongue sticking out of the computer)
Just kidding Dan. Please get home safe with that wonderful family of yours. Take advantage of the extra time with your folks. Be safe on the way, we will be praying for you.

Thanks Pauly! A tongue sticking out of the pc is better than stuck to a flag pole this time of year....
