public reading

| Some books should not be read in public. Especially the ones that are required reading for a certain graduate class you might be taking. I left the house a little later than I intended to this morning. I needed to have the General Ki at the dealership for the scheduled appointment to have the driver's side door repaired. I honestly thought that it should be a quick fix with a coat hanger or something like that to make the lock work again. So I gave myself about 12 minutes to get there by 8 a.m. Half way down the road, I realized that I would be passing Starbucks in a few moments and that I had forgotten to fill my stainless steel mug with the freshly brewed Gold Coast that smelled so wonderful that I could smell it all the way up stairs while I was brushing my teeth. It didn't matter that I was tight on time. I needed my morning venti bold. So I zipped into the parking lot a little faster than a leisure stroll and went to get out and then realized ... My door doesn't work!!!! Ahhh!! So I crawled out of the passenger side and set a new record for running in and out with a fresh venti with cocoa and cinnamon sprinkled on top. I zip down the road catching all of the green lights and arrive at exactly 8:00 on the button. I turn in my key and sit down in the lobby and break out my required reading to catch up a little. A few moments in to my reading, I notice a woman across the room crocheting as she passes the time listening to the newscaster on the tv warning of the pending "storm" coming in the afternoon. She is watching me. And she's making a face. I wondered what her grimace might be about. I was quietly reading and sipping on my Starbucks. A few moments later the man next to her was scowling while staring at me and peeking over the top of his newspaper. And then I realized . My book is titled, "Four Views on Hell". I decided to put it back in my man-purse to read later lest everyone in the car dealership waiting room think that I am about to hex them for grimacing & scowling... The book is definitely an insightful study as part of the required reading for my Theology class for my graduate studies for my Masters of Arts in Religion, yet.... Some books are better read while no one is grimacing & scowling at you ... |

1st view - sitting in a lobby at the car repair shop;
2nd view - driving behind someone who goes 15 miles BELOW the speed limit;
3rd view - standing in line at...well...anywhere;
4th view - sitting quietly while someone tells you everything that is wrong about you and taking it because you are trying to figure out the "Christ-like" way to respond when what you really want to do is punch them in the throat.
...or maybe these are my own versions that I won't have to experience for eternity thanks to Jesus.
